UAF demanded to exclude the RFU from UEFA and FIFA because of the Crimean clubs
The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) again demanded to exclude the Russian Football Union (RFU) from the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). This was reported on the UAF website.
The Ukrainian side was dissatisfied with the integration of football clubs from the Crimea into the regular national championships of Russia. “The UAF again appeals to FIFA and UEFA with a request to consider the possibility of expelling the RFU from the members of FIFA and UEFA due to proven non-compliance with the requirements of the statutes of the governing bodies and the values of the global football family,” the organization stressed and called what is happening a gross violation.
On June 6, it became known that Sevastopol and Rubin Yalta received licenses to participate in the Second League in the 2023/2024 season. On July 16, the teams played their first matches in the third strongest Russian division.
By the UEFA decision of 2014, the Crimean clubs play in a separate league – the Crimean Championship. Teams are prohibited from participating in RFU tournaments.
