Hockey player Fedotov, who returned from the army, explained the refusal of the contract in the NHL

Fedotov explained the refusal of the contract in the NHL with the phrase “guided by the fact that he missed a year”

Returning from the army, the goalkeeper of the Moscow hockey club CSKA Ivan Fedotov explained why he refused the contract with the Philadelphia Flyers club of the National Hockey League (NHL) and signed an agreement with the army team. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“I was guided by the fact that I missed a year. The level of hockey in the army is not very good. I tried to keep fit. Now I will try to return to my level, ”Fedotov said.

On July 2, the head coach of the Navy hockey team, Valery Pokrovsky, assessed Fedotov’s form. “The guy is resting, deserved after all these loads and everything that happened. He did his job, it is clear that he is in good shape, lean, ”the specialist noted.

Fedotov signed a new contract with CSKA on July 1. NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said the league was unhappy with the decision, as it violates the goaltender’s current deal with Philadelphia.

In July 2022, Fedotov was detained in St. Petersburg on suspicion of evading military service. He was going to fly to the United States to play for Philadelphia next season. Later, Fedotov was taken to the training unit of the Russian Navy for military service.
