16-year-old Mirra Andreeva climbed 36 places in the WTA rankings and entered the top 100 for the first time
Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva climbed 36 lines in the ranking of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). An updated list of the best athletes is presented on the organization’s website.
After Wimbledon 2023, 16-year-old Andreeva entered the top 100 for the first time and was ranked 66th. Previously, she was ranked 102nd. The first racket of Russia, Daria Kasatkina, who was in tenth place before the start of the tournament, moved to 11th position.
Two more Russians – Veronika Kudermetova and Lyudmila Samsonova – dropped two positions in the updated rating, to 14th and 17th respectively. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova returned to the top 100, climbing 23 lines.
On July 10, Andreeva lost to American Madison Keys in the 1/8 final match of Wimbledon 2023. The meeting ended with the score 6:3, 6:7 (4:7), 2:6. Earlier, Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev called the results of the 16-year-old athlete exceptional. “It’s one thing to play good tennis, it’s another thing to consistently win matches,” he said.
