O Barcelona and other European clubs such as Manchester Unitedwere fined by UEFA for accounting irregularities and violation of the Financial Fair Play (FFP) during the 2022/2023 season, the body of European football announced this Friday.
Barça, current champions of the Spanish League, were fined 500,000 euros (R$ 2.7 million at current quotations) for “erroneously declaring in the 2022 fiscal year, profits on the disposal of intangible assets (except player transfers) that are not a relevant revenue according to the regulation”. Last year was the last year such regulations were in effect for UEFA, before the rules were relaxed over the next three seasons.
Other clubs such as Inter Milan, Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco, Roma and Olympique de Marseille escaped the sanction after fulfilling their respective objectives set out in conjunction with UEFA.
The Belgian Royal Antwerp and the Turkish Trabzonspor received the highest fines, of up to two million euros each (R$ 10.8 million), of which 300 thousand are fixed (R$ 1.6 million), and the rest depends on the meeting financial targets.
