Belgian striker Loïs Openda, scorer of 21 goals in Ligue 1 in his first season at Lens, he was transferred to the German Leipzig, until 2028, for a “record” value, announced this Friday (14) the French club.
“Loïs Openda joins RB Leipzig and the Bundesliga as part of a record transfer,” the French club said in a statement, without specifying the amount of compensation for the transfer.
Openda, 23, has signed a five-year contract with Leipzig, where he will have the difficult task of succeeding Frenchman Christopher Nkunku, who transferred to Chelsea and finished as one of the top scorers in the Bundesliga with 16 goals.

The Belgian national team player (for which he played 9 games and scored 2 goals) arrived at Lens in the European summer of 2022 for around 10 million euros (R$ 54 million).
His 21 goals in Ligue 1, which put him fourth in the top scorer in the last French championship, made him take a career leap.
Openda was one of the highlights of Lens’ magnificent last season, which finished second behind PSG, and with that result the team will play in the group stage of the Champions League next season.
Despite the change of club, Openda will also play in the prestigious European competition, as Leipzig also qualified for the group stage.
