It became known about the refusal of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to invite the national teams of Russia and Belarus to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on the set date. It is reported by TASS.
The date of the decision on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes is July 26, 2023. On that day, the IOC will send invitations to the Games 203 to the National Olympic Committees (NOCs). According to the publication, Russia, Belarus and Guatemala, suspended since September 2022, will not receive the letters.
On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participation in the starts.
The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. At the moment, the final decision on the admission of Russians to the competition has not yet been made.
