O Barcelona announced, on Wednesday, that Sergi Roberto injured his thigh and will undergo surgery. According to the Spanish newspaper Sports world, the midfielder can be away from the field for up to four months.
The club’s profile in Portuguese on Twitter informed that the player “will be operated on for the injury suffered in the rectus femoris of the right thigh”. The medical process will be carried out by Dr. Lasse Lempainen, under the supervision of the team’s medical services, in Turku, Finland.
At 29, Roberto has been suffering from injuries this season. Without acting since Oct. 27, he played 12 games, scoring two goals and an assist.
Coached by Xavi Hernández, Barça returns to the field on Saturday, at 12:15 pm (GMT), when they receive the Real Betis. The match is valid for the 15th round of the spanish championship.
