the portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, currently at Al-Nassr, in Saudi Arabia, invested in the Chrono24 luxury watch internet sales platform. The announcement was made this Wednesday by the German company, which has been establishing itself as a great leader in this expanding market.
“As a collector of watches for some time and a regular user of Chrono24, it is a pleasure to become a shareholder in the company,” said the 38-year-old striker, quoted in a statement on the platform’s website.
The percentage of Cristiano Ronaldo’s participation and the amount invested, however, were not disclosed.
In recent years, the luxury watch market has experienced a certain boom, leveraged by Millennials (born between 1980 and the late 1990s) and Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2010), who want to consume luxury items more responsible for the planet.
With more than 500 employees spread across its offices in Karlsruhe (Germany), Berlin, New York, Miami and Tokyo, the platform is valued at more than US$ 1 billion (R$ 4.8 billion at current prices).
