Route and profile of stage 12 of the Tour de France 2023: Roanne – Belleville-en-Beaujolais (168.8 km)
The 12th stage of the Tour de France 2023 presents a demanding tour along its almost 170 kilometers. The day will begin at 1:20 p.m. and end around 5:33 p.m. A propitious stage, in principle, for a short break where a handful of riders dispute the victory.
This time, the peloton heads into the Beaujolais countryside to end up in Belleville, on the banks of one of France’s great rivers, the Rhône. Cyclists will have to face a rough route, with five mountain passes.
The first of them is him Thizy-les-Bourg Coast, with 4.3 kilometers at 5.6% and the top at kilometer 20.5. through the Col des Ecorbans (2.1 kilometers at 6.9%) and a series of unclassified mountainous difficulties, the race enters its second half in the Col de la Casse Froide (5.2 kilometers at 6.1%).
From there the runners fly to the foot of the Col de la Croix Montmain (5.5 kilometers at 6.1%) before continuing towards the Col de la Croix Rosierwhich is a slightly tougher climb: 5.3 kilometers at 7.6%.
Once this last port is uploaded, there will be almost 30 kilometers to the finish line from Belleville-en-Beaujolais, most of it downhill, although there will also be some small inclines and several flat sections to ride.
