El Digital Sur: Elena Isinbayeva moved to live in Tenerife
Two-time Olympic pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva moved to live in Spain. This became known to El Digital Sur.
According to the source, the former athlete lives in Tenerife. The timing of Isinbayeva’s move is not reported.
On June 21, the Ethics Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) completed a check on Isinbayeva, a member of the organization. The Russian woman was considered for support of hostilities and contractual obligations with military structures.
In February 2023, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky put into effect the decision of the National Security Council of the country (NSDC) on sanctions for a period of 50 years against Russian athletes. Isinbaeva also fell under the restrictions.
Isinbayeva, 41, is a major in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The three-time world champion has been on the IOC Athletes’ Commission since 2016.
