In Brazil, they spoke about the threats of the leadership of Zenit to the players of Malcolm and Claudinho
The Brazilian Football Confederation spoke about the threats of the leadership of the St. Petersburg “Zenith” on the players of the team Malcolm and Claudinho. This became known to Globo Esporte.
“They spoke very harshly with the athletes. They were very hard on them from a human point of view. They even threatened to break contracts. These were strong things,” said Brazilian national team coordinator Juninho Paulista. He stressed that the players were put under a lot of pressure, because of which the national team was upset by their decision to leave the team’s location.
Malcolm and Claudinho received Russian citizenship in January. Malcom has been playing for Zenit since 2019, Claudinho since 2021.
In September 2021, Malcolm and Claudinho were called up to the Brazil national team for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, but both players did not go to the team’s location, having received a message from Zenit calling for them to return to Russia. The reason was fears of quarantine restrictions, in connection with which the players will not be able to play with Chelsea in the Champions League.
