Mario Pineida and Cristian Ortiz are the new additions to the Segunda Castilla coach’s team for the match that Barcelona SC will play this Tuesday (19:00) with Estudiantes de La Plata at the Banco Pichincha stadium, as part of playoffs Copa Sudamericana 2023 Round of 16
Both players are out of action because they underwent surgery for a meniscus injury in their left knee.
Their recovery will last 25 days, so they will not be able to participate in the South American playoffs against the Argentine team.
Both the defender and the midfielder underwent arthroscopy due to the rupture of the rear horn of the meniscus of one of the knees, the club’s medical service reported.
Because of this, their interim coach, Segundo Castillo, will be looking to recruit the best he has, including Pedro Pablo Perlaza, recently hired to strengthen the right side of the defense in their quest for victory.
Barcelona SC fell for this without precedent playoffs which is being played for the first time after finishing third in Group C of the Libertadores, while Estudiantes LP finished second in South American Group C.

Castillo called 23 footballers for this commitment, including goalkeeper Javier Burrai, defender Carlos Rodríguez, midfielders Fernando Gaibor, Damián Díaz and Leonai Souza, and forwards Jonatan Bauman and Francisco Fydriszewski.
Pincharrata’s strength is fine and consistent, because in the 24 games he led this year, he won 13, tied 9 and lost only two.
The match will be played this Tuesday at the Banco Pichincha stadium starting at 19:00 local time, and the referees will be Uruguayan Gustavo Tejera and Chilean Ángelo Hermosilla, who will assist with VAR.
