Rodnina said that Korea can be understood because of Sotnikova’s statement about doping at the 2014 Games
Three-time Olympic champion, State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina appreciated the statement of the Russian figure skater Adelina Sotnikova about the doping case at the 2014 Games in Sochi. Her words are quoted by Sport24.
“Sotnikova said everything herself. One can understand the Koreans who want to check the results of these tests. In Russia, there were big problems in those years with doping in sports, ”said Rodnina. She refused to believe that Sotnikova had problems with banned substances.
In March, Sotnikova said that after the 2014 Games she learned about the discovery of doping in her sample. After that, the South Korean Olympic Committee demanded that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recheck the figure skater’s doping test. The IOC said that there was no doping case against figure skater Sotnikova.
At the Games in Sochi, Sotnikova won the gold medal in single skating, leaving Korean Yuna Kim with silver. The Russian woman also has two silver medals of the European Championship. In March 2020, the figure skater completed her career.
