The IOC commented on Sotnikova’s statement about doping at the 2014 Olympics

The IOC said that there was no doping case against figure skater Sotnikova at the 2014 Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) reacted to the statement of the Russian figure skater Adelina Sotnikova about the doping case at the 2014 Olympic Games (OI-2014). The organization is quoted by Match TV.

“At that time there was no doping case [в отношении Сотниковой]so the IOC cannot comment, ”the organization emphasized.

Earlier, Sotnikova, in an interview with the Tatarka FM YouTube channel, said that after the Olympics, she learned about the discovery of doping in her sample. “Remembering 2014, after some time they said that they found doping in me, but then they acquitted me, because they opened the second sample, and everything was fine with me,” she said. Later, this fragment of the interview was removed from the channel.

The Olympic Committee of South Korea reacted to Sotnikova’s statements. The organization intends to require the IOC to recheck the figure skater’s doping test.

At the Games in Sochi, Sotnikova won the gold medal in single skating, leaving Korean Yuna Kim with silver. The Russian woman also has two silver medals of the European Championship. In March 2020, the figure skater completed her career.
