Roman Kostomarov’s walk on prostheses after being discharged from the hospital was caught on video
Olympic ice dance champion Roman Kostomarov uses prosthetic legs after being discharged from the hospital. The video of his walk was published by Super.
In the footage, the skater moves independently. Prostheses on Kostomarov’s hands have not been installed at the moment, so his wife Oksana Domnina is always next to him, who helps open and close doors, carries bags and drives a car.
Kostomarov was discharged from the clinic on July 6. The figure skater posted a video saying goodbye to the hospital staff and thanking the doctors for saving his life. According to the Telegram channel Shot, he was only discharged for a week so that he could be with his family.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to the prolonged connection to a blood oxygenator and a ventilator, tissue began to die. Doctors amputated both feet of the figure skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire right hand and several fingers of the left.
