UAF condemned Neftchi, Red Star and Fenerbahce for participating in the tournament in Russia
The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) condemned the participation of Neftchi, Red Star and Fenerbahce in the international friendly tournament PARI Premier Cup, which takes place in St. Petersburg. The organization issued a statement regarding the competition on its official website.
“The UAF has repeatedly appealed to UEFA, FIFA, to all our partners from the football community in Europe and the world to prevent participation in football competitions with the participation of Russian teams, including on the territory of Russia,” the statement says.
The PARI Premier Cup takes place in St. Petersburg from 1 to 15 July. Petersburg “Zenit”, Serbian “Crvena Zvezda”, Azerbaijani “Neftchi” and Turkish “Fenerbahce” take part in the tournament.
The Ukrainian football club “Karpaty” has changed its technical sponsor Joma. “The reason for this decision was the lack of a clear position of Joma to stop working on the Russian market,” the club said in a statement.
On February 28, 2022, FIFA and UEFA excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. The teams do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team has lost the opportunity to fight for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
