German boxer of Russian origin Serge Michel, who returned to the country and made his debut in the Top Dog promotion, spoke to Lenta.ru about the prison term he served in Germany.
“I have three convictions. In total, I spent more than two years behind bars, serving a sentence for fights and theft. There was no money, the boys and I opened stores, dragged alcohol and cigarettes. I got my first term at 16, I was sent to prison for a year and a half, ”Mikhel recalled.

According to him, he did not learn a lesson from being in prison. “Almost immediately after his release, he went to jail again. I was given eight months, but this time I completely rethought my life, ”said the athlete.
While serving his second term, Michel returned to boxing training. Shortly after his release, he took third place in the German championship. “Absolutely not proud of my criminal past, but I understand that the prison gave me an impetus – I changed my life and got out of the shit in which I was. Everyone has their own path in life, unfortunately, it turned out like this for me, ”he summed up.
Mikhel was born in Sakhalin, but at the age of six he moved with his family to Germany, where he began boxing. He subsequently represented the country at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He has 18 fights in professional boxing, in which he won 15 victories and suffered three losses.
On June 23, Mikhel made his debut in fisticuffs in the Russian promotion Top Dog. In the fight, which took place in Moscow, the boxer defeated Naim Davudov, who is the middleweight champion of the organization. Michel won by TKO in the fifth round.
