MMA fighter Alexander Volkanovski defeated Mexican Rodriguez and retained the UFC title
Australian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Alexander Volkanovski defeated the holder of the Interim Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight belt Yair Rodriguez of Mexico. The results are available on the league website.
The fight took place on the night of July 8-9 as part of the UFC 290 tournament in Las Vegas, USA. The 34-year-old Australian won by TKO in the third round and retained the title. He defended the belt for the fifth time.
In total, Volkanovski has 28 fights in his professional career, in which he won 26 victories, 13 of which were by knockout, and suffered two defeats. One of them – from the Russian Islam Makhachev in February 2023 by unanimous decision.
In the track record of Rodriguez 20 fights, in which he won 15 victories and suffered four defeats. One fight with his participation was declared invalid.
