Figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva spoke about the reasons for leaving the honored coach of Russia Eteri Tutberidze. Her words from the presentation of the documentary “Medvedev against Medvedeva” RIA Novosti reports.
Medvedeva admitted that one of the reasons for changing the coaching group was pity for her after the 2018 Olympics. “Being in that environment was very difficult. I constantly heard: “What a pity, what a pity, if there were two gold medals, we would give them to both.” They say to me: “You are an Olympic champion for us.” And I stand and think: “I’m not an Olympic champion!” ”The athlete shared and called it also a depreciation of the opponent’s victory.
Medvedeva stressed that this was not the only reason that influenced her decision. “It was better for everyone, especially for me,” she summed up.
Medvedeva is a two-time world and European champion. At the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, the figure skater won two silver medals – in team competitions and in the individual competition. Alina Zagitova, her compatriot, then won the singles competition.
