The former goalkeeper Ajax Edwin Van der Sar, who remains hospitalized and in intensive care after suffering a brain haemorrhage on Friday, is stable but his condition remains worrying, the Dutch club announced on Saturday.
The former player of the Amsterdam team and the Manchester United52, was on vacation on an island in Croatia when he started to feel unwell.
“Edwin Van der Sar remains in intensive care at the moment. His condition is stable but still worrying,” Ajax said in a statement published on Saturday. “Van der Sar’s family, as well as Ajax, are grateful and very touched by the many messages of support,” the club added.

In May, the former goalkeeper resigned as Ajax general manager after their worst season for 14 years, finishing third in the last Eredivisie.
Considered one of the best goalkeepers of his generation, Van der Sar defended the goal of the Dutch team between 1990 and 1999, being part of the squad that won the Champions League em 1995.
Then passed by Juventus (1999-2001) and Fulham (2001-2005), before moving to Manchester United (2005-2011). During his time at the English club, he won another Champions League in 2008.
