With record attendance, Portugal overcomes Ukraine in the last friendly before the Women’s World Cup

Portugal had the support of 20,123 fans at Estádio do Bessa, in Porto (PT), to beat Ukraine in the friendly match played this Friday. In front of the record crowd for the women’s team in the last game before the world Cupthe Portuguese were victorious by 2 to 0, with two goals scored by jersey number 10 Jéssica Silva.

The match ended Portugal’s preparation for the Women’s World Cup. It will be the first time that the team will compete in the tournament. The Portuguese are part of Group E, alongside USAVietnam and Netherlandsagainst whom they will make their debut, on the 23rd.

The first goal of the match came in the 18th minute of the first half. Jéssica Silva was attentive and took advantage of the Ukrainian defense’s blunder to steal the ball inside the opponent’s area. In the face of the goal, the attacker touched between the legs of the goalkeeper and inaugurated the marker.

Portugal’s number 10 shirt shone once again in the first-half stoppage time. At 47 minutes, Jéssica Silva received it in the middle of the area and, even surrounded by defenders, managed to win the tackle to, once again, hit under the Ukrainian goalkeeper.
