RFU: Russian football referee Shemetov died in the zone of the special operation
Football referee Daniil Shemetov died in the zone of a special military operation. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the communications service of the Russian Football Union (RFU).
The referee was 31 years old. “The RFU provides the family with all the necessary assistance, Shemetov’s colleagues will also provide additional financial support to his family,” the RFU said.
Earlier, the Boxing Federation of Ukraine (FBU) reported the death of 22-year-old Ukrainian boxer Maksim Galinichev in the area of the SVO.
In February, the Russian silver medalist of the 2010 European Karate Championship, Secretary General of the Kyokushin Karate Federation Sergey Uvitsky died in the SVO zone. It is noted that he died while performing a combat mission. Joining the ranks of the Russian army, Uvitsky said that many athletes “were looking for an opportunity to use themselves in a special operation.”
