Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev reached the 1/8 finals of Wimbledon 2023. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.

In the third round, the domestic athlete beat the Belgian David Goffin. The meeting ended with the score 6:3, 6:7 (6:8), 7:6 (7:5), 6:2. Tennis players spent 3 hours on the court.

In the next match, Rublev will play against the representative of Kazakhstan, Alexander Bublik, who defeated the American Jeffrey-John Wolfe.

Earlier, on July 7, another Russian, Roman Safiullin, reached the 1/8 finals of the tournament. He beat the Argentinean Guido Pella with a score of 7:6 (7:1), 6:4, 6:0.

On March 31, the UK Lawn Tennis Association, which organizes Wimbledon, allowed Russian and Belarusian tennis players who signed a “declaration of neutrality” to participate in the 2023 tournament. Later, information appeared that the athletes agreed to this condition.
