The date of the friendly football match between Russia and Qatar has been announced. It is reported by Sport24.
Maxim Mitrofanov, Secretary General of the Russian Football Union (RFU), said that the game with Qatar will be held in Doha on September 12. “We are at the stage of contract negotiation. The second opponent will be announced a little later. We would like the second match to take place in Russia. Negotiations are underway with teams from different parts of the world, ”the functionary said.
Plans to hold a friendly match with Qatar became known on June 11. The national teams of Hungary and Turkey refused to play with the Russians because of the inability to fit these meetings into the schedule of the teams.
The Russian national team has not played in international tournaments since February 2022 due to the sanctions of the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations.
