In Ukraine, they said that it is unacceptable to invite Sergei Karasev to the gathering of UEFA referees
The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) appealed to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) because of the call to the training camp of referees from Russian Sergey Karasev. The text of the statement is given on the official website of the UAF.
“We are convinced that this case is unacceptable against the backdrop of UEFA’s general policy towards citizens of the Russian Federation,” the organization said. The UAF expressed the assumption that the invitation of Karasev is “the result of a misunderstanding.”
On June 28, it was reported that Karasev had received a call to the meeting of UEFA referees, which will be held in September 2023. It will be attended by referees working at matches under the auspices of the organization.
Russian teams and clubs do not take part in international tournaments by decision of UEFA and the International Football Federation from February 2022.
