The Spanish defender and lateral César Azpilicueta was announced this Thursday as the newest reinforcement of the Atletico Madrid. The 33-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the club after spending the last 11 years with the Chelsea.

The versatile defender made his professional debut at the age of 17, in the 2006-07 season, for Osasuna, the team that revealed the athlete. Since then, Azpilicueta has also passed through Olympique de Marseille until arriving at Chelsea in August 2012.
The following year, in 2013, Azpilicueta made his debut for the professional Spanish national team and, since then, he has played 44 games with the 2010 world champion and was called up for three World Cups.
In his last season with Chelsea, the defender played 32 games as team captain, a position he has held since 2019, when Gary Cahill left the club. With the English team, Azpilicueta won nine titles, including a Champions League, a Club World Cup and two Premier Leagues.
