Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov has been discharged from the hospital. The athlete announced this on Instagram (social network is banned in Russia; belongs to the Meta company, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
“Behind 175 days. Ahead of the whole life, ”Roman wrote under the video in which he says goodbye to the staff of the medical institution. The skater noted that he survived thanks to these people.
Earlier on July 4, the skater posted a new video of training in the hospital. On the footage, an athlete with prosthetic legs is engaged on a treadmill, performs exercises for the shoulders, biceps and abs, and also swings his legs.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to the prolonged connection to a blood oxygenator and a ventilator, tissue began to die off. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, doctors amputated both feet of the figure skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire right hand and several fingers of the left.
