Golovin spoke about the change of coach at Monaco

Russian player Alexander Golovin said that Monaco had reason to change the coach

The Russian midfielder of Monaco Alexander Golovin spoke about the change of coach at the club. His words are reported by Sport-Express.

“Did you expect a change of coach? This is a question to a greater extent to the leadership of the club. Players don’t make such decisions,” Golovin said. He noted that the team did not get into the European Cups at the end of the 2022/2023 season, so there were reasons for such a step. “But in any case, my job as a football player is to work in training and prove everything in games,” the Russian added.

On June 4, Monaco sacked head coach Philippe Clement, who had been in charge of the team since January 2022. The club called the resignation of the Belgian specialist a necessity.

Golovin moved to Monaco in 2018 after the World Cup in Russia. The midfielder’s current contract runs until June 30, 2026. In the 2022/2023 season, he played 34 matches for the club in the French championship, in which he scored eight goals and gave seven assists.
