The Spaniard Marcelino García Toral was officially presented as the new coach of the Marseille Olympics this Tuesday.
“I have admiration for this club, for its history, for its fans and for Marseille,” said the coach at the presentation press conference.
“The challenge of managing one of the great clubs in Europe is very motivating. It is a great opportunity, very exciting. Football is a feeling and we have a passion for football. I am aware that I was hired as a coach to ensure that this historic club, the only Frenchman with a Championsimprove the upward trajectory of recent years,” he said.
“We are here because we have a method and we believe in this project, with a present and a future. We are a working group that believes in its methodology. Many members of the technical commission have been with me for 20 years, this makes us have a clear vision of what we want work and how to do it,” he explained.

Marcelino considered that his game philosophy fits perfectly with what Olympique fans want.
“We like to be an organized team. We believe that balance is the starting point to achieve success and that is part of the organization. We will try to be a dynamic, agile, attractive team. A common circumstance makes us optimistic: our concept of football is the that this huge crowd likes,” he said.
Marcelino managed several clubs in Spanish football, such as Sevilla, Villarreal, Athletic Bilbao and Valencia, where he won the Copa del Rey in 2019. At Olympique, he will have his first experience outside the Spain.
