Coach Alexander Zhulin said that Roman Kostomarov will definitely return to the ice
Honored coach of Russia in figure skating Alexander Zhulin assessed the chances of the Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov to return to the ice. It is reported by TASS.
“Definitely, he will return to the ice. Kostomarov is my hero,” Zhulin said. Earlier on July 4, the skater posted a new video of training in the hospital. On the footage, an athlete with prosthetic legs is engaged on a treadmill, performs exercises for the shoulders, biceps and abs, and also swings his legs.
As the Telegram channel “112” reported, the skater was given temporary prostheses, but individual and modern ones have already been ordered. It was clarified that German specialists came to the Moscow clinic to consult Kostomarov on their use.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to the prolonged connection to a blood oxygenator and a ventilator, tissue began to die off. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, doctors amputated both feet of the figure skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire right hand and several fingers of the left.
