In the women’s team event, Ecuador ranked sixth.
With a total score of 13,533, the Ecuadorian César López placed third in the jumping event of the Junior Pan American Games. The winner was Ricardo Torres (13,633), from Mexico, and second place went to Edward Gonzales (13,616), from Peru.
“The competition was very strong, I feel very excited, very happy with the results I have achieved in this device,” said López.
“I have prepared for two years to achieve this result, I could have done better, but I am very happy,” added the 18-year-old from Guayaquil.
In the men’s individual competitions, about 50 gymnasts from the continent participated and López was the only Ecuadorian. “I am very happy to represent my country, because that is what I came to represent and demonstrate that it can be done.”
In the female branch, the tricolor Ashley Bohórquez, Fabiana Sadun, Nicole Llugcha and Valentina Cazón also competed. And in the women’s team event, Ecuador ranked sixth. (D)
