Russian UFC fighter Peter Yan spoke about the implementation of politics in sports
Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Petr Yan spoke about refereeing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). His words are reported by Sport24.
“There are controversial decisions. And politics is being introduced into sports, and some interests of the parties. We just have to work harder so as not to bring to the point that certain people make decisions for us, ”said Yang.
On July 1, Yang announced the dates for his next fight in the UFC. According to the fighter, he should return to the octagon at the end of 2023. The athlete noted that at the moment everything is fine with his health.
Jan spent his last fight in the UFC in March of this year at the UFC Fight Night 221 tournament, losing to Georgian Merab Dvalishvili by unanimous decision. In the previous two fights, he lost by split decision to the Americans Sean O’Malley and Aljamain Starling.
Yang is a former UFC bantamweight champion. The 30-year-old athlete won 16 victories with five defeats in fights under the rules of MMA.
