The IOC declared the inadmissibility of the ban on athletes to compete by governments
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) reacted to the decision of the Czech government to ban Russian athletes from competing in the country. It is reported by TASS.
The organization said that they still adhere to the position outlined in the May release. It stated that it was permissible for governments to decide which athletes could compete in which international competitions.
On June 29, it became known that the Czech government agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Education to ban Russian athletes from competing in the country. In addition, the authorities will not allow Czech athletes to take part in tournaments that will be held in Russia.
On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participating in tournaments.
