Russians Michkova, Simashev, Buta and Gulyaev selected in the first round of the NHL Draft
The National Hockey League (NHL) clubs selected four Russians in the first round of the 2023 draft. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.
The Arizona Coyotes selected defender Dmitry Simashev at number six, and Matvey Michkov joined the Philadelphia Flyers at number seven. Arizona also drafted forward Daniil Bout under the 12th number, and the Colorado Avalanche selected defenseman Mikhail Gulyaev under the 31st number.
The ceremony takes place in Nashville from June 29 to 30. At the annual event, league clubs secure the rights to young hockey players aged 18 to 21. In the 2022 draft, three Russians were selected in the first round.
The new NHL season starts on October 11th. The current holders of the Stanley Cup are the Vegas Golden Knights.
