Jaromir Jagr said he would not have returned to the NHL if it were not for performances in the Avangard
Czech hockey player Jaromir Jagr spoke about the impact of playing in Russia on his career in the National Hockey League (NHL). The sportsman’s words are quoted by the YouTube channel Spittin’ Chiclets.
Jagr stated that he would not have played another seven years in the NHL if he had not left for Avangard Omsk. “There are fewer matches in Russia, breaks for national teams. I could see my parents four times during the season. There is more training in Russia, so I was in much better shape and returned to the NHL, gaining new strength, ”he explained.
On February 5, Jágr set the record for goals in his professional career. Shortly before his 51st birthday, he scored his 1099th goal in the Czech Republic championship match against Trshinec, taking into account matches for the national team.
Jagr played for Avangard in 2004-2005 and from 2008 to 2011. He is also known for playing for nine different NHL clubs. Together with the Pittsburgh Penguins, the striker won the Stanley Cup twice. As part of the Czech national team, he won the Olympic Games and twice became the world champion.
