Government will allocate more than S / 1,400 million for prevention against El Niño in 7 regions

The President of the Council of Ministers (PCM), Alberto Otárola, reported this morning that the Government has allocated a budget of S/1,446 million to carry out preventive actions before the imminent arrival of the phenomenon of El Niño Global.

The actions include attention to critical points in the seven affected regions, as well as the transfer of resources for the acquisition of necessary machinery and containment mesh, especially in the so-called blind basins and transversal dikes to deal with this possible emergency. A total of 619 interventions will be carried out.

The official explained that in the region tumbes More than S/67 million will be invested in prevention works, such as cleaning and clearing the Tumbes river. In piura 95 interventions have been planned, for S/182 million; Meanwhile in Lambayeque S/192 million soles will be allocated for 96 preventive actions in the provinces of Lambayeque, Ferreñafe and Chiclayo.

S/105 million will also be allocated to Freedom for the execution of 94 interventions in its nine provinces. “For example, in the province of Virú, S/52 million have been allocated, blind basins, streams and rivers that are going to be protected or intervened have been identified. In the province of Chepén, S/14 million have been allocated to through nine interventions in three districts. And in Sánchez Carrión, S/11 million for 17 interventions in six districts,” Otárola explained.

On the other hand, in the region ancash S/79 million have been directed for 105 interventions in nine provinces. While to the region Lime S/101 million has been assigned for 86 interventions in five provinces. Finally, for the region Ica S/69 million have been provided to finance 84 interventions in five provinces.

The head of the PCM reiterated that all these actions are scheduled to be carried out on a timed basis until December.
