Chilean defender Guillermo Maripan, 28, has renewed his contract for another season with Monaco and will now play for the team until 2025, according to a statement from the club on Thursday.
Former Alavés player, Maripán was signed for 18 million euros by the Principado team in 2019. Since then, he has 100 matches and 11 goals scored.
“Guillermo has not stopped making progress since his arrival,” commented Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell.

“He is a fighter, a player of character, with an important role in our defensive sector. Seeing him commit himself to us in the long term is a sign of his ambition and willingness to continue on this path,” he added.
In his last appearance for Monaco, in match against Lyon on 11 September, Maripán injured his abdominal region after scoring a goal. Since then, he has been recovering and should already be available for the weekend round, against Nantes, for the French Championship.
