Nikolai Valuev, known as the “Beast from the East”, is one of the most characteristic boxers in history. The former world champion is 213 centimeters tall, weighed around 150 kilograms and has 50 wins (34 knockouts) and only two defeats. He won the championship for the first time in 2005, defeating John Ruiz on points. A year and a half later, he lost his belt because he lost to Ruslan Chagaev.
He was the world champion in boxing with a call to the Russian army
Recently, however, Valuev does not shine with a sports form, because he focuses on political activities. The former world champion recently referred to the voices of IOC representatives regarding the suspension of Russian athletes in connection with the war in Ukraine.
“The Russians will return to the competition when Europe freezes and the local industry freezes,” said the former boxer.
And it was not the first time that a Russian spoke about athletes. – What is my opinion on the departure of foreign players from the Russian league? Let them run away. Rats always flee the ship: not only when they are drowning, but also when they are under fire. The mercenaries will never be the same as us, the Russian claimed.
Nikolai Valuev, a State Duma deputy, will have the opportunity to prove himself in the army. – I also received a summons, now I am going to the military conscription office. I have to go home – said the former boxer quoted by iz.ru.
– We had many meetings outside the headquarters, the call came just before we left for Donbas, and I was not at home. Next week I will definitely go to the recruitment office – added Wałuyev.
According to the Base on Telegram channel, the appointment of Valuev has nothing to do with the partial mobilization that Vladimir Putin ordered last week. Valuev is only to be asked to report to the military registration and recruitment office on September 15.
