Pumas announces injury to Daniel Alves and side denies: “They are going to make another one”

Pumas, from Mexico, announced this Thursday that defender Daniel Alves has suffered an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee. Despite not confirming the seriousness, the club was denied by the player himself, who stated on his social networks that he stopped traveling with the squad just as a precaution.

Daniel Alves responded to several vehicles that reported his alleged injury through Twitter. The player stated that he took a hit from a teammate during training and, therefore, did not travel to play against Juárez, this Friday.

If the injury is confirmed, Daniel Alves runs great risks of being out of world Cup. Pumas did not say how long the winger will be out of the field, but with less than two months to go before the tournament starts, the experienced player will not have time to recover if the injury is too serious.

At 39 years old, Daniel Alves’ presence at the Qatar World Cup was already in doubt. after leaving the Sao Pauloin September 2021, the side was without a club for about two months, until he returned to Barcelona, in November. Seven months later, he left the Catalan club and chose to join Pumas with the aim of getting in shape so he could compete in the World Cup.
