A Copa Sudamericana reached the largest volume of Brazilian fans in its history. According to data from IBOPE Repucom, 66% of connected Brazilians declared themselves to be fans of the competition, a growth of 69% in the last decade.
In 2013, 39% of connected Brazilians declared themselves fans of the continental tournament and said they were “interested” or “very interested in the competition”. The percentage at the time represented just over 21 million individuals.
In the last study. conducted in June 2022, 66% of online Brazilians, aged 18 or over, saw themselves as fans of the Sudamericana. This is 73.3 million people.
Between 2013 and 2022, Brazilian teams reached the decision on six occasions. In the first year of this clipping, the black Bridge lost to Lanús-ARG. In 2016, the Chapecoense became champion over Atlético Nacional-COL, in a final that was not disputed due to the tragic accident of the plane that transported the club from Santa Catarina.
In 2017, or Flamengo got the runner-up after losing to Independiente-ARG and, the following year, the Athletico-PR won the Junior Barranquilla-COL. Hurricane lifted the trophy again in 2021, when it overcame the Red Bull Bragantino.
According to IBOPE Repucom, the Copa Sudamericana has become one of the five most beloved international football championships by Brazilians since 2013. The 2022 final, between Sao Paulo and Independiente Del Valle-EQU, will be played on Saturday, at 17:00 (Brasília time), in Córdoba, Argentina.
