Alexei Morozov, Director of the Department of High Performance Sports of the Ministry of Sports of Russia, in a commentary to Match TV, named the reasons for calling the figure skater of the national team Dmitry Aliev to the military registration and enlistment office.
“Skater Aliev was summoned to the military registration and enlistment office to clarify the data and mark that he is not abroad,” Morozov said.
Aliyev and another member of the Russian national team, Makar Ignatov, received the summons on September 28. The champion of Russia and Europe in 2020 Aliyev is 23 years old, the silver medalist of the national championship Ignatov is 22. The Russian Figure Skating Federation has requested a delay for the athletes.
On September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of partial mobilization in the country. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu specified that a total of 300,000 reservists are planned to be called up.
