Russian defender “Boston” Dmitry Orlov topped the ranking of the best free agents in the NHL
Boston Bruins defenseman Dmitry Orlov topped The Score’s ranking of the best free agents of the off-season in the National Hockey League (NHL). The full list is published on the portal.
In the 2023/2024 season, Orlov can become an unrestricted free agent. The top 10 also included Russian forward “Vegas Golden Knights” Ivan Barbashev, who took sixth place, and forward “New York Rangers” Vladimir Tarasenko, located on the tenth line.
On April 24, Orlov set a Boston record by becoming the first defenseman in club history to score points in four straight debuts in a knockout series. The last time the team’s defensemen managed to achieve such an indicator was in 1988, when Glen Wesley scored effective actions in the first three meetings of the 1/8 finals of the Stanley Cup.
Orlov began the 2022/2023 season with the Washington Capitals, but was traded to Boston in February. The defender has been playing in the NHL since 2011, together with the capital team in 2018 he won the Stanley Cup.
