Fenerbahce president Ali Koç said he was defending Russia’s interests in Europe
President of the Turkish football club Fenerbahce Ali Koch spoke about protecting the interests of Russia. His words are quoted by Fotospor.
Koch said that he attaches great importance to cooperation with the St. Petersburg “Zenith”. “I am the only one who defends Russia in Europe,” he stressed.
Earlier on June 23, Secretary General of the Russian Football Union Maxim Mitrofanov said that the organization continues to receive payments from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). Mitrofanov said that the funding goes to the development of programs.
In the spring of 2023, Zenit and Fenerbahce signed a cooperation agreement with each other. In July, the blue-white-blues will hold a pre-season tournament, which will be attended by the Turks, Red Star Belgrade and Neftchi Baku.
On February 28, 2022, the International Football Federation and UEFA excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. The teams do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team has lost the opportunity to fight for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
