Ukrainian Harlan reproached the FIE for destroying the training of athletes for the return of the Russians

Ukrainian Olga Kharlan criticized the International Fencing Federation (FIE) for the return of Russians to tournaments. Her words are quoted by Suspilne Sport.

“The FIE is now doing everything possible to bring Russians and Belarusians back to the competitions, so that “there is no discrimination”. In doing so, they are destroying the preparations for the end of this season and for the Olympic Games in general,” she said.

Harlan chided the FIE for rescheduling the qualifiers to other dates and to another country, which violates the training plan of other European participating countries.

Earlier, the FIE deprived the European Games-2023 of the status of the European Fencing Championship due to the non-admission of Russians to the tournament due to problems with obtaining Polish visas. It was noted that the tournament will be postponed to October.

In March, the FIE allowed Russian athletes to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. However, the organization later denied entry to many athletes, including Olympic champions Yana Yegoryan, Sofia Velikaya, Sofia Pozdnyakova and Olga Nikitina.
