Five-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Anastasia Davydova left Russia. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the head coach of the Russian national team Tatyana Pokrovskaya.

She noted that she learned about Davydova’s departure on Monday, September 26. “For me, this is a surprise. I can’t comment on it,” she said.

Davydova won five gold medals at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympics. She also has 13 victories at the world championships.

In 2012, the athlete ended her career and then entered the presidium of the Russian Synchronized Swimming Federation. In 2014, the Davydova Olympic Synchronized Swimming Center was opened in Moscow.

In April, the International Swimming Federation (FINA) banned Russians from participating in competitions under its auspices in 2022. Domestic athletes missed the World Aquatics Championship, which was held in Hungary from June 18 to July 3.
