The Russian Football Union (RFU) has changed the rules for holding the Russian Cup in the 2023/2024 season. It is reported by TASS.
In the 2023/2024 season, the team that lost in the final of the Russian Premier League (RPL) Path will not play in the final match of the Path of Regions for the right to play in the superfinal of the tournament. It is noted that the start of the new Cup of Russia is scheduled for July 25-27.
Last season, CSKA Moscow became the winner of the Russian Cup, which turned out to be stronger than Krasnodar in the final. The meeting was held at the Luzhniki Stadium in the capital and ended with the score 1:1 in regular time. The army team won the penalty shootout – 6:5.
The Russian Cup has been held since 1992. Professional football clubs, amateur teams from the third and fourth divisions, as well as media teams are eligible to participate in it.
