With Ancelotti in the CBF’s sights, Real Madrid wants Xabi Alonso as new coach

O Real Madrid planning has already begun for Carlo Ancelotti to join the Brazilian national team. According to the newspaper Bildpresident Florentino Pérez wants to count on Xabi Alonso, coach of Bayer Leverkusen, to supply the departure of the Italian.

The Spaniard would be the first name on the manager’s list to take over the team. Xabi stood out last season for the work he has been doing in Germany, lifting Bayer Leverkusen from bottom of the league table and taking the club to the Europa League semi-finals.

It is worth remembering that the former player also had a spell at Real Madrid, between 2009 and 2014. If he fails to bring him back to Madrid, Real’s plan B would be Álvaro Arbeloa, coach of the team’s youth categories.

For now, Ancelotti will remain in charge of the current Spanish champions until June 2024, when his contract expires. The coach already had a verbal agreement with Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the CBF, to take over the national team when he leaves Real Madrid.
