Ecuadorian midfielder Jeremy Sarmiento extended his contract with Brighton & Hove Albion Premier League, the team he joined in 2021.

“We are delighted to confirm that midfielder Jeremy Sarmiento agreed a new contract until June 2027with the option of another year for the club,” the English club announced on Wednesday.

Pervis Estupiñán, Moisés Caicedo and Jeremy Sarmiento are on Brighton’s roster for the 2023-2024 season.

Sarmiento, 21 years old, joined the club in 2021the season that marked his debut with the first team in the League Cup, which was later followed by a promotion that led him to World Cup with Ecuador in Qatar 2022.

His performances in the first team were regular, but an injury in March left him out of the team at the most decisive stage for the seagulls who came to fight for the semi-finals of the FA Cup, and in the Premier League, the possibility of qualifying for European tournaments.

“Jeremy is a great guy and a very good player. “Unfortunately, due to an injury, he could not play in the last part of the season, but we expect him to be a very important player for us in the coming years,” said coach Roberto de Zerbi.

Sarmiento continues the process of recovery from the fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone suffered with the Tricolor in a friendly match against Australia in Sydney. (D)
