Spartak promised to help the convicted legionnaire Promes in obtaining Russian citizenship

The general director of Spartak, Oleg Malyshev, spoke about the possible acquisition of Russian citizenship by the Dutch legionnaire of the Moscow club Quincy Promes. It is reported by Sport24.

The functionary noted that the decision should be made by the player himself. “If Promes wants to move in this direction, we will provide support,” Malyshev promised.

On June 19, the court sentenced Promes in absentia to 18 months in prison. The 31-year-old attacker was found guilty of involvement in an armed attack and stabbing his cousin. Currently, the convicted footballer is in Moscow and is going to appeal the verdict.

Promes returned to Spartak in February 2021. Prior to that, he played for the red and white from 2014 to 2018, becoming the champion of Russia and the owner of the country’s Super Cup with the team.
