Figure skater Drobyazko said she could not influence the decision to deprive her of Lithuanian citizenship
Figure skater Margarita Drobyazko reacted to the decision of the Lithuanian Seimas to deprive her of her citizenship. Her words are reported by Match TV.
“Am I being deprived of citizenship? I can’t say anything because I’m not aware of this situation. Does this issue bother me? I cannot influence such decisions. What can I do? It’s their business,” she said. The athlete added that she was fine.
Earlier, on June 21, it became known that the Seimas of Lithuania initiated the procedure for depriving Drobyazko of the citizenship of the country. The reason was the participation of the figure skater in the show of the Olympic champion in ice dancing Tatyana Navka.
In August 2022, Drobyazko and her partner Povilas Vanagas, with whom she won the Lithuanian championship 13 times and became the bronze medalist of the world championship in ice dancing, were deprived of state awards. Athletes were sanctioned for participating in Navka’s Swan Lake show in Sochi.
